Breana Bohannan is a seasoned professional in the behavioral field, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Langston University and a Master’s in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma. Additionally, she is a Master’s Level Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, demonstrating her commitment to the highest standards in her field.
With a career spanning over 16 years, Breana has dedicated herself to the areas of addiction and mental health. Her expertise encompasses providing individual, family, and group therapy in both adolescent and adult Intensive Outpatient Programs. Notably, she served as the Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor for Assertive Community Treatment at Metrocare MHMR of Dallas County.
Breana’s treatment philosophy revolves around meeting individuals where they are in their journey, emphasizing the equation “Honesty + Self-Awareness = Accountability” as a guiding principle for recovery. She passionately advocates for creative modalities such as art and music therapy, recognizing their significant role in the therapeutic process. Having spent 9 years in Medication Assisted Treatment, including a 6-year tenure as the Treatment Center Director at AppleGate Recovery in Lewisville, Texas, Breana has engaged with public officials, recovery communities, and delivered presentations on MAT. Her commitment extends beyond professional settings, with a belief that addiction is a disease of the brain, not a choice. She sees recovery as a path that can be chosen with accountability.
On a personal note, Breana, a Texas native raised in Southeast Oklahoma, has called the DFW area home for the past 11 years. Her personal life is enriched by the presence of her significant other and 10-year-old Daughter. During her free time, she enjoys quality moments with her family, indulging in travel, and creating art or painting with her daughter.
