One of our guiding principles at Discovery Point is that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to addiction recovery. You see it in our variety of inpatient and outpatient options, our wide range of therapies and counseling services, and our commitment to creating a unique, individualized recovery plan for every client.
We strive to offer specialized programs to fit every personalized need. Whether you’re looking for a faith-based recovery program, an approach that incorporates the popular 12-steps philosophy, or a plan that lets you recover among people of your own gender, we have a specialized program for you.
Our faith-based rehab program is grounded in evidence-based methodology, yet enriched with spiritual guidance for those who wish to incorporate faith into their recovery. With an emphasis on core values such as acceptance, compassion, forgiveness and hope, spiritual care can help inspire you to stay committed to your recovery and heal from the damage caused by addiction. Through your faith, you can strengthen your recovery and improve your quality of life.
Alcoholics Anonymous has become synonymous with alcohol addiction recovery. Other groups and organizations around the world – including Discovery Point Retreat – have adopted their principles. Known as the 12-steps to alcohol recovery, these principles are commonly used to help people overcome other types of addiction, such as drugs or gambling.
We combine cognitive-behavioral therapy with the spiritual principles of the 12 steps to help you recover from addiction. In our program, you learn the 12-step principles and apply them in practical ways. For example, admitting weakness to others psychologically prepares you to regard your alcohol use disorder as a legitimate disease in need of professional care. Throughout treatment, you surrender to a higher power and find forgiveness, a deeper sense of purpose and self-love.
Relationships are often built on shared traits and interests. But sharing an active addiction can also be detrimental and enabling. Mutual addiction and shared trauma may keep you locked in a toxic cycle of substance abuse, and codependency is common. Your relationship may be founded in love and mutual understanding, but a shared addiction can leave both partners struggling with boundaries, communication and trust.
At Discovery Point Retreat, couples rehab teaches you to address these challenges as a team, approaching each problem directly rather than shifting blame or ignoring the issue. With a primary focus on both individual empowerment and communication, couples can greatly improve the quality of your relationship during the recovery process and beyond. Couples are accepted on a case by case basis.
We do not believe that a single approach is best for everyone, and we understand that the needs of men and women with substance addictions are different. Each person has a unique set of circumstances, challenges, and emotional assets that can affect the treatment process.
In our rehab program for men, we create a space where men can feel comfortable addressing the social, emotional, psychological and physiological factors influencing addiction. Through therapy, counseling and other activities, men learn new ways of thinking about themselves, interacting with others, dealing with difficult emotions and resisting cravings to prevent relapse.
Men struggling with addiction may have challenges including anger and aggression management, emotional isolation, false masculinity, relationship or sexual issues and co-occurring mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). At Discovery Point Retreat, men participate in an intense, integrative treatment program to help manage and overcome these issues, allowing them to lead a more fulfilling life in sobriety.
Discovery Point Retreat provides women with a safe and comfortable space to share their story, find their voice, develop tools for recovery and foster hope in our rehab program for women.
Many women struggling with addiction have experienced trauma, including domestic violence or abuse, at some point in their lives. We help women recover from and move beyond past traumas, so that those experiences no longer have the power to continue to cause mental distress. In addition to an intensive daily schedule of therapy and counseling, we also incorporate specific evidence-based techniques, including EMDR and equine-assisted therapy, to address trauma.
Through a range of therapeutic activities, we help women overcome guilt and rebuild their feelings of self-worth. We’re dedicated to empowering women to free themselves of addiction and restore their health and relationships.
Our addiction treatment program for young adults provides teenagers with the mental and emotional support they need to beat their addiction and remain sober. One of the most important elements of young adult rehab at Discovery Point is peer support. Having others to talk to without fear of judgment, shame or guilt is extremely important.
As a parent, it’s your responsibility to intervene in your loved one’s substance abuse problem and seek treatment to help them gain the life skills they need to cope with their addiction. Our young adult rehab program helps them learn to stop abusing drugs and alcohol, control their addictive behaviors and manage their life without substance abuse.
