Tobi has been through a lot in her life. Devoted wife and mother, she has seen her share of ups and downs, but like many others, she never anticipated experiencing alcohol addiction and the damage it would cause for herself and her family. As a survivor of sexual assault and physical, mental, and emotional abuse, Tobi recognizes today that she never developed the skills to truly cope with these traumas and life’s other challenges. She believed she had everything under control and was over her past experiences, happy in a new marriage and with her new family. Then in 2018, Tobi experienced postpartum depression following the birth of her youngest child. Unable to cope or continue ignoring her troubles, she turned to alcohol and began binge drinking. Her behavior spiraled out of control until finally she decided to seek help from an addiction treatment center in Dallas, Texas. When Tobi came to Discovery Point Retreat, she found a safe, judgement-free space to address the roots of her addiction. Our team helped to empower her with the personal understanding and coping skills necessary for a happier, healthier life in sobriety.
