Discovery Point Retreat offers comprehensive addiction treatment options including medical detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization programs (PHP), and intensive outpatient programs (IOP). Each level of care builds upon the next, helping you learn critical life skills that will help you stay sober after you complete rehab. Our clinical philosophy is rooted in the power of in-person connection, peer support, and a structured therapeutic environment, which we believe provides the strongest possible foundation for lasting recovery.
Understanding these different levels of care is the first step in finding the right path for yourself or your loved one. Effective treatment matches the intensity of clinical services to the severity of the individual’s substance use disorder and their specific life circumstances. At Discovery Point Retreat, our admissions team works closely with each prospective client to conduct a thorough assessment and recommend the appropriate starting level of care. From there, you will progress through our continuum, stepping down to less intensive levels as you gain stability and build confidence in your recovery.

The Discovery Point Retreat Continuum of Care
Our programs are designed to provide a seamless continuum of care, ensuring that you are always receiving the right level of support at the right time. This model prevents gaps in treatment and provides a clear, structured path from initial detox to long-term community-based recovery. The table below provides a high-level overview of our four main programs.
Level 1: Medical Detox
For most people, the journey begins with medical detox. This is the process of allowing the body to safely rid itself of drugs or alcohol under the close supervision of a medical team. Attempting to detox on your own can be uncomfortable, dangerous, and in some cases, life-threatening. Our medical detox program provides a safe, comfortable, and medically sound environment to navigate the withdrawal process. Our 24/7 nursing staff is expert in managing withdrawal symptoms, administering medications as needed to ensure your safety and comfort, and preparing you emotionally and physically for the next phase of treatment. The goal of detox is not just to clear substances from your system, but to achieve a state of physical and mental stability that allows you to fully engage in the therapeutic work to come.
Level 2: Residential Treatment
Following detox, many clients transition to our residential treatment program. Residential treatment provides a highly structured, immersive environment where you can focus entirely on your recovery, free from the triggers and stressors of your daily life. For 30 to 90 days, you will live on-site at one of our comfortable, home-like facilities and participate in a full schedule of clinical programming. Your days will be filled with a combination of individual therapy sessions, process groups with your peers, psychoeducational workshops, family therapy, and holistic activities.
In residential treatment, you will learn the foundational skills of recovery: how to identify your triggers, manage cravings, regulate your emotions, and build healthy relationships. It is an intensive, transformative experience that provides the bedrock for a life of sobriety. Our residential program incorporates evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, and an optional 12-step facilitation component.
Level 3: Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
For those who have completed residential treatment or who do not require 24/7 supervision but still need a high level of clinical support, our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is the ideal next step. PHP is often described as day treatment. Clients participate in a full day of clinical programming — identical in intensity and structure to our residential program — but return home or to a supportive sober living environment in the evenings. This level of care provides the best of both worlds: the structure and intensity of residential treatment combined with the real-world autonomy of living off-site.
PHP is a critical phase where you begin to apply the skills you learned in residential treatment to your daily life while still having the safety net of a full day of clinical support. It is available five to six days per week and typically runs for several hours each day.
Level 4: Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
The final level of care in our continuum is the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). IOP is designed for individuals who are stable in their recovery and are ready to fully reintegrate into their work, school, and family lives. This program offers a flexible schedule of group and individual therapy sessions, typically held three to five days a week. We offer both morning and evening IOP tracks to accommodate your schedule.
In IOP, the focus shifts from stabilization to integration. You will work on navigating real-world challenges, managing stress, preventing relapse, and building a strong sober support network in your home community. IOP provides the accountability and clinical support you need as you transition from the structured environment of treatment back into a life of purpose and independence. Our IOP is available at all three of our Texas locations in Waxahachie, Ennis, and Dallas.
