Cory Newman serves as Facility Director for Discovery Point Retreat where he oversees physical maintenance and operations of our facilities and building systems among other projects. He also has a strong background in substance abuse treatment services having worked with Niznik Behavioral Health for four and a half years in several roles including Lead Technician at Harbor Village in Miami, Florida. Cory attended Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida where he studied Psychology.
Greg Powers serves as the Clinical Director for Discovery Point Retreat. Greg holds dual Bachelor degrees in Sociology and Criminal Justice from the University of Texas and completed his education with a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Tulane University in New Orleans. Greg has specialized in the treatment of substance abuse, grief and loss as well as trauma. Greg is certified in EMDR and trauma response and crisis interventions along with a certification in crisis intervention with first responders. Greg started his career as a medical social worker. In this role, Greg worked in a variety of specialties ranging from transplant, cardiology and neonatal intensive care. Greg returned to Texas and began working in the mental health field working with adults and adolescents. Throughout his career Greg has held positions of leadership in both for-profit and non-profit facilities, has served on the Board of Directors for different agencies and continues to be active in the field of academics. Along with his position at Discovery Point Retreat Greg continues to work as a consultant, is in private practice and is a certified clinical supervisor in the field of social work.
Kimberly Choiniere is a Primary Therapist for Discovery Point Retreat. Kimberly holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas. She is a licensed clinical drug counselor (LCDC), a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and a certified life coach. Prior to joining the team at Discovery Point, Kimberly worked in outreach, education and psychotherapy with at-risk men, women and children. She has also served as a grant writer and community planner in the public health sector. Kimberly is fluent in French.
Kelli Jeray serves as a lead therapist for Discovery Point Retreat. Kelli earned her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas and her Master of Science in Community Counseling from Argosy University in Dallas, Texas. She is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with extensive experience in residential and outpatient counseling.
Victoria Kozenkovaite is the certified nurse practitioner at Discovery Point Retreat. She began her medical career more than 12 years ago and has worked as a certified NP for over five years. She has experience in urgent care and chronic care management. She has served in roles with organizations including correctional facilities, schools and hospitals specializing in telemetry and emergency care. Victoria also holds a Healthcare Provider level CPR (BLS) certification. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida International University in Miami, Florida and her Master of Science in Nursing from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey.
Joseph Silva is a lead therapist for Discovery Point Retreat. Joseph earned his Bachelor of Science in Community, Family and Addiction Services and his Master of Education in Community Counseling from Texas Tech University. He is a licensed professional counselor, as well as a licensed chemical dependency counselor. Before joining the team at Discovery Point Retreat, Joseph worked for a Mental Health Authority where he served inmates and other special needs populations at the Lubbock County Detention Center. He provided psychoeducational classes and individual counseling. Joseph has also worked with homeless families to equip them with job skills and permanent housing.
